San Jose InformationSan Jose may not have the iconic symbols and historical significance of its neighbor to the north, San Francisco, but the city in the thriving Silicon Valley is home to a number of large tech-based companies and professional sports teams, and is one of the largest cities not just in California, but in the United States.
Downtown San Jose features a number of museums and attractions, including the Tech Museum of Innovation and the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles. The tech museum gives visitors a chance to explore the effects of technology on the world, while the quilt and textile museum is a modern museum featuring exquisite artistic pieces. Outside of downtown, the Winchester Mystery House is a fun attraction for all ages, as visitors can explore this bizarre and possibly haunted house and hear a lot of interesting stories about how it came to be.
Those who like to explore the outdoors will find plenty to do in San Jose as well. The San Jose Municipal Rose Garden is a popular attraction that features beautiful grounds populated by more than 4,000 rose bushes. Alum Rock Park, just outside of the city, is a great place to spend a beautiful day. Visitors can bring a picnic lunch, walk the trails, enjoy the scenery and explore the grounds that feature natural springs. The water park Raging Waters is a popular summer spot in San Jose for those who need to cool off on a hot day.
No matter what the season, there is plenty for sports fans to do in San Jose. The city is home to the San Jose Sharks of the NHL, and they play their games at the SAP Center. The venue has been operation since 1993 and also hosts concerts and other events. The city’s arena football team, the San Jose Sabercats, also play at the SAP Center. Soccer fans can watch the San Jose Earthquakes of MLS in their new home, Avaya Stadium, which opened in February of 2015. Despite the city’s failed attempts to land a Major League Baseball team in recent years, baseball fans can still find a professional game in San Jose, as the San Francisco Giants’ single-A minor league team, the San Jose Giants, play their home games at San Jose Municipal Stadium.
With a mix of indoor, outdoor and seasonal attractions, there is something for everyone in San Jose.
