About Globe Life Park

Globe Life Park, formerly known as the Ballpark in Arlington, officially opened in April 1994. The idea originally came into play in the late 80’s, which is when The Rangers began asking for a new venue. The Texas Rangers are now home at this 49,178 capacity ballpark, which was constructed with a budget of $191 million and was completed in just under two years. Construction began in 1992 under the architectural design of David M. Schwarz Architectural Services and HKS Inc. and the construction of Manhattan Construction Company. The majority of the construction funds were derived from an increase in sales tax for the city of Arlington while the remaining funds came directly from the Rangers owners.

While visiting Globe Life Park, spectators can take a stroll on Nolan Ryan Expressway, which was constructed in honor of Ryan’s all-time strikeout record, and the Rangers Walk of Fame. The Walk of Fame is a beautiful brick walk, which is divided into panels commemorating every Rangers team from 1972-2000. Fans, who wish to be part of the history, may purchase a brick for inscription. Inside the ballpark, a variety of treasures await. Legends of the Game Baseball Museum, which measures 17,000 sq. ft., features more than 1,000 baseball artifacts. Inside, fans will enjoy well over 100 items, which are currently on loan from the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in addition to a large theater and auditorium. Also inside is a children’s learning center and a Dr. Pepper Youth Ballpark, which is designed specifically for youth leagues.

Globe Life Park was host to the 1995 All-Star Game. In 1997, bronzed full size statues were erected in honor of Nolan Ryan and Tom Vandergriff. Because of their significant roles in Rangers history, Ryan and Vandergriff were the subjects of sculptor, Toby Mendez for inclusion in Vandergriff Plaza at Globe Life Park.

In May 2004, the Texas Rangers and Ameriquest Mortgage Company teamed up, which is when the field was renamed from the Ballpark at Arlington to Ameriquest Field in Arlington. The agreement was a 30 year and $75 million promise, which included the naming rights.

An impressive 270 acre, 1,400,000 sq. ft. massive ballpark awaits fans of the Texas Rangers. A natural grass playing field, some of the closest seats to the action in Major League Baseball, 120 suites and one of the most detailed scoreboards are among the amenities at Globe Life Park.
