About Miller Park

In April 2001, after more than 10 years of planning and over four years of construction, Miller Park opened as the newest state-of-the-art facility in baseball. During the inaugural game, the Brewers defeated the Reds in a 5-4 victory. Featuring a fan-shaped convertible roof, color replay board and four front-row seat choices on four different levels, Miller Park is full of options. Miller Park features the only fan-shaped convertible roof in North America. It weighs an impressive 12,000 ton and opens or closes, without noise, in only 10 minutes.

It all began in 1987, which is when the Greater Milwaukee Committee began studying the possibility of building a new ballpark. The following year, in 1988, Milwaukee County asked the state to donate a 46-acre parcel for the site of the future stadium. Construction officially began in January 1991 and, in 1995 as construction continued, the Brewers made a presentation to the Milwaukee Stadium Commission. Among the issues addressed was a commitment of $60-90 billion to build a new ballpark. An economic report estimated that a convertible-roof stadium would result in 750,000 additional spectators each season, a whopping $62.6 million in additional spending and four-year construction spending of $169.5 million. Several years later, in 1997, the Brewers announced an asymmetrical design for Miller Park.

Fans who want to get an even closer look at Miller Park may do so by taking an exclusive Miller Park Tour that includes a visit to the dugout, luxury suites, press box, clubhouse, broadcast booth, The .300 Club and more. Children can find enjoyment at Helfaer Field, which is Miller Park’s miniature youth baseball and softball facility. The Walk of Fame, on the other hand, is perfect for fans of all ages. This tribute area began with Miller Park’s inaugural season in 2001 and honors some of the greatest names in Brewers history. Located on the plaza area, with bronze statues of Robin Yount and Henry ‘Hank’ Aaron nearby, fans can enjoy the celebration of each inductee by seeing the names of their favorite player on a granite-shaped home plate set into the ground. Inductees include Rollie Fingers, Paul Molitor, Robin Yount, Henry Aaron, Cecil Cooper, Allan Selig, Bob Uecker, Harry Dalton, Jim Gantner and Gorman Thomas.

Home to the Milwaukee Brewers, Miller Park is located in Wisconsin and features a unique configuration all it’s own. Fans will continue to visit Miller Park for it’s rich history and spectacular tradition. Although Miller Park is no more than a few years old, it has already made it’s mark in the history books.
